Hoop Dress

There is nothing quite like a hoop skirt built into your dress. This fabulous frock has invisible ‘bones’ stitched into the seams, which, although fairly rigid, are not totally stiff. Which means they hold the slightly poofy silhouette of the dress without it being able to stand up alone, because that is creepy. The broad skirt perimeter means your legs look longer, which is always a bonus. Good dress for a Summer wedding I think!

No Time to Waist

A classic black waist coat is my idea of a wardrobe staple. I adore mine and wear it over skirts, jeans and trousers to add a smart edge. This cute lace skirt is a nice contradiction to the masculine waist coat.

White & cream lace mini – Promod $18.50 (50% sale). Black waist coat – old, similar. Heels – old Enzo Angiolini. Watch – Gucci. Sunglasses – Rayban

Red Leather

There is nothing more classic in winter than a sleek, fitted, collarless leather jacket. Simple lines, plain zips, slight patent sheen. Delish. Although this jacket is years old, it remains a staple in my wardrobe. Looks good with tight jeans, black or white trousers and even pencil skirts with black tights and knee-high boots.

Red Leather Jacket – Marion & Lindie, Old. Similar Leather Moto from Express $118, Bagatelle Leather Scuba $398

Sunglasses – Armani. Jeans – Zara 1979. Hoop earrings – Accessorize

Lean and Green

I am really into loose floaty shirts and mini skirts. I think the combination is quite chic. It shows a lot of leg, but still doesn’t give it all away because the top half is not form-fitting! And, as per some previous posts, I am totally exploring the colour green this month. It’s a kind of theme right now.

City Wanderings

Nothing beats a denim shorts and checkered shirt combo. This is one of my favourite shopping outfits as it is comfy, easy to get out of in change rooms, and warm enough for blasting mall aircons.

My Top 10 Beauty Essentials

Where would we be without our favourite tried and trusted beauty essentials?

For some women it is simply a swipe of mascara and a dab of hair serum, for others it is an-hour-long transformation involving several lotions and potions. For me, it is somewhere in the middle. I LOVE beauty products and enjoy the process of using  creams and make-up just as much as seeing the final result (final result – not looking exhausted!) Here are my top must-have items: (if I was stuck on a desert island and could bring one item, it would be mascara)

1) Dior Extase mascara – gives you uber volume and length. Trust me, I have tried them all. $95 and worth it

2) Lancome concealer – $29.50 (tip your face downwards in the mirror when applying to see the under-eye shadow)

3) Balenciaga perfume – a classic scent that works day and night $130

4) Bobbi Brown powder foundation – am not a fan of liquid so this works well and looks natural. lots of shades. $42

5) Laura Mercier Primer – as with a wall, everything needs a base coat. Works well in humid climates $30

6) Laura Mercier illuminating powder blush – mine is ‘pink rose’ Love the four sections for natural blend $35

7) Mac blush brushes – expensive but well worth it. They feel silky and last ages. One for base, one for blush. $49.50

8) Bobbi Brown tinted moisturiser SPF15 – when I am feeling a tad pale this is subtle and smoothing $40

9) Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream – what make-up drawer or handbag is complete without this gem? $19.50

10) Boots number 7 under eye treatment, non greasy – $19.99
