100% Cotton. Back to Basics

While I was travelling in Northern Thailand, we stopped off in Chiang Mai, the second biggest city after Bangkok. There I found this awesome night market packed with gems (food, clothing, jewelry, shoes, bags, candles…) and met a lady who makes the most beautiful clothing from 100% cotton. I feel in love with this dress. The colour is so pretty and the material feels like air against your skin. Visit her site here or her Facebook Page for more of her awesome items.

Currently Craving – Chanel

My entire working life, from the age of 21, I have dreamed about owning a classic Chanel jacket. It is one of those amazing staples worth living for, like a Hermes or Birkin, but a bit more accessible. The price is obviously the reason I am not the one wearing it in this post, but one can plan, scheme and dream. I WILL make it a reality before I am too old to rock it. The cut and length of this one is perfect for me.

It would, quite simply, go with everything – especially yachts and champagne 😉

Two fashion quotes from Coco herself: ‘A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous’ and ‘Fashion fades, only style remains the same’

Denim Shorts & Vogue!

This is one of my favourite weekend looks (even though it’s Wednesday), because it’s comfy and this style of shoe allows for mileage when trotting around the huge malls of Bangkok (and have super-cute studs)

Have you seen the latest Vogue? It’s certainly hard to miss and weighs about 1 ton. It’s so delicious I took it for lunch!

Denim shorts – Mango. Striped T- Zara. Green Bag – Jaspal. Soft studded moccasin – Zara. Mag – Vogue x

Silk Shirt

I love the way this silk shirt falls and the slightly tighter cuffs. Cute gold studs on the neckline top it off perfectly. (can you see the rain in the background!!? Happy Monday!)

White shirt – Zara. Black mini – Zara. Red Heels – old. Studded bag – Jaspal new collection. Owl earrings – local market.

Polka Dot Friday

More dots, especially on a Friday! I love the 1950’s cut of this dress and simply had to pair it with some round-toed patent Mary Janes for full effect. I also bought two more belts to try, one in pink and one in red. Can’t wait to show you!

Dress – Alldress, similar. Bag – Kate Spade. Bracelet – Aldo. Pumps – Nine West ‘Caress

Fashion Quote of the day“I have always believed that fashion was not only to make women more beautiful, but also to reassure them, give them confidence.”— Yves Saint Laurent

Karen Millen Shocking Pink

When I first saw this frock from across the department store floor, my heart skipped a beat. Sparks flew. It was love at first sight. I tried it on and it felt like I was the only person ever meant to wear it. That is what a dream dress does to you. It is life altering. Sigh.

Pink Dress – Karen Millen (old collection). Heels – Aldo.

The Black Pencil Skirt

A well-fitted black pencil skirt is probably the most versatile item in a working girls wardrobe. A good waist band is essential, no digging-in allowed. I added a simple grey jacket, which made the look more formal, and some patent heels which are very ‘Kate Middleton’ and surprisingly comfortable.

Straight cut cotton pencil skirt – Mango. Striped top – Zara. Grey jacket – G2000. Patent pumps – Nine West. Tangerine Tote – TopShop. Pink bracelet – Kate Spade. Gold hoops – similar

City Shorts

The more you wear shorts with heels, the more you can extend your wardrobe options. I maintain they should not be too short, or it looks skanky (like the woman I saw today with half her bum cheek falling out! Revolt!) I am slightly addicted to belts, all colours and most widths, especially thin and patent in bold tones. They can lift a plain look instantly.

Black city shorts – Zara, old, similar. Turquoise linen T – Zara. Cropped jacket – Alldress, similar Forever21. Belt – local sale, similar JCrew. Black peep toes – Nine West. Bracelets – Kate Spade (pink) and local market (white) Nails – Revlon new collection

Fashion Quote for Today: “Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.”

— Gianni Versace

City Sleek

As you may have noticed, I am loving three-quarter length trousers. First it was my jeans, and now, these delicious white cropped ones with a low-rise, non-dig-in waist band. White always feels really chic – just remember the tan Spanx. Also love the capped sleeves on this bright top.

White cropped trousers – Gap (new collection). Tangerine top – Zara. Pink jacket – Mango. Nude peep toes – Aldo. Bracelets – Kate Spade and local market stacks. Nails – Revlon

BB Cream & Marc Jacobs Macaroons

I spend almost 5 hours in the make-up section over the weekend. I am a fan of the natural look, so I ended up at the Bobbi Brown counter and walked out with a small bag packed with new products and a steaming credit card.

Highlights:  Bobbi Browns BB cream with SPF35++ & SPF50 Face Base. Hydrating Face tonic. Thick eye cream (night application only) The shimmer brick – there are no words for how this single product transformed my life and two bottles of bright orange nail varnish from Revlon.

Had to add in my delightful free gift from Marc Jacobs on Mothers’ Day (in Thailand it falls on the Queens’ Birthday) Three beautiful macaroons!
