Burmese Shift Dress

If you live in Thailand and are lucky enough to employ a housekeeper, it is likely she will hail from Burma. On my birthday last month, my lovely ‘Boon’ (affectionate nickname) gave me a hand-made embroidered Burmese dress which is so over-the-top, so tasseled, so dramatic and so long I simply could not wait to debut it poolside!

We stayed at The Dusit Thani, Hua Hin, which is a beach-side town two hours drive from Bangkok City and my slice of heaven for long weekend escapes (Happy Chinese New Year!) We set the alarm at 6am to take these shots while the pool was empty and we could get the soft, dusty pink lighting from the rising sun.

I love the tasseled hem which bounces as you walk.

Dress – Burma. Flats – Aldo. Hat – Rip Curl.

I adore fashion and spend most of my free time looking for great, chic items I can mix and match. Oh, and the occasional luxury item of course! There is nothing better than sitting in a boring meeting and being inspired by your own shoes :)
