Two Tone

I just fell in love with this dress the minute I saw it. The two-tone colour palette, the fabric blend, the loose fit around the middle, the pockets…..

Dress – Quant (Shanghai designer) Shoes – Nine West Caress. Bag – Kate Spade

Leather Trim

A gorgeous pencil skirt is always a work wardrobe staple. This black and white beauty with leather trim, takes the classic work pencil to an entirely new level of fab. I just love the leather detail across the waist band and down the middle at the front. And the fact the back is slightly longer than the front so the side-view rocks.

I find it rather amazing and cringe at the same time, that my skirt literally matches the black and white paneling of my handbag. To an outsider they must think ‘good grief, this woman is serious about fashion’ but between you and I, we know this was a total (albeit happy) coincidence.

The only word of caution I have is that you need to constantly look down to ensure the leather stripe is exactly in the centre. Every time I stood up it has shifted slightly. So it is a rather high maintenance skirt, but well worth it if you ask me. And by the end of the day I was simply ‘feeling’ for the stripe and adjusting mid-step. Coz that’s how we fashionistas roll.

Skirt – Zara. Heels – Nine West Caress. Jacket – Mango. Black vest – H&M. Bag – Charles & Keith.

The black side panels are especially flattering as have a slimming effect on the eye.

Casual Thursday

I decided to do a double-casual post because being comfortable and looking chic is not easy! When wearing jeans to work, I strongly believe in adding heels or posh flats, a cute bag, funky ring/earrings. Otherwise one can look like a slob.

I also believe in spending a bit more time on your hair and make-up to ‘make up’ for being so casual. Jeans – Zara 1969 Flare (old). Grey top – Gap (old). Polka dot flats – Trenery. Bag – Charles & Keith.

My second casual look for the week. And this really is me walking – my husband uses a fast shutter-speed to capture each movement in the hopes one of 20 shots will be use-able! But I love the ‘moving’ shots as it feels less posed.

Adorable polka dot top – Jaspal. Jeans – GStarRaw. Heels – Nine West Caress

Pop of Blush

My second post featuring my new hounds-tooth cropped Zara trousers. Why? Because they totally rock and I keep seeing inspiration of new ways to style them. Seems everyone is into printed cropped trousers lately.

And yes, this is me with my face in my coffee cup. I was having one of those mornings where I couldn’t let go of my caffeine and therefore pretended to make it part of my pic.

I think the dusty pink jacket (Mango – similar) and shoes (Nine West) make for a much softer look than my previous post with black heels. White linen top – Zara – (similar with round neck). Bag – Charles & Keith.

Have you discovered ‘Today I’m Wearing‘ ?? It’s a style-sharing site for normal people (not just posh bloggers who get free designer clothing!) to share their daily looks. Best part is that the mobile app works really well. Simple to upload, crop, label, post & vote. LOVE IT. Here’s my profile page:

Coco

I just finished reading Coco Chanel’s biography and am totally obsessed with her simple and chic style (and life story, did you know she was friends with Salvador Dali and Winston Churchill!?amaze balls) She was my Fashspiration for this shoot.

Wide-leg, low-rise white trousers – custom tailor (similar). Pink heels – Nine West Caress. Striped Vest – Trenery. Pearls & clutch – Accessorise – real deal here

I extended the look for a casual lunch with my husband but swapping the trousers for shorts and a green satchel bag. (Bag – Jaspal. Shorts – Zara similar) Nails OPI

New Year Sparkle

Ok, this post is clearly late but I only just got home from holiday in Cape Town! Forgive me. This gorgeous top was such a great find for sparkly events, perfect for New Year!

Denim and Print

One of my favourite wardrobe tricks is to add a well-worn denim jacket over a posh or formal dress. It tones the look down and at the same time, funks it up.

Denim jacket – Levis Classic Trucker (old, similar). Dress – Expressions (similar in polka dots). Dusty pink pumps – Nine West Caress. Clutch – local market (similar) Diamond tennis bracelet – generous husband (nothing similar!) Nails – Revlon Shade – Cherries in the Snow
